    Establishing your stance

The first thing you will probably notice when you step on your skaeboard for the first time is that standing one way feels more comfortable than the other, that is your stance. If you skate with your right foot forward, you are a "goofy foot". If you ride with your left foot forward you skate with the "regular stance". Standing one way is no better from the other, there have been great skaters from both stances. Also with your stance and eventually you learning tricks, you will get a chance to get into some technical aspects , such as riding "switch". Riding switch means that you are oposite of the stance you usually ride. Meaning that it will seem that you are riding backwards all of the time. But with more practice, you will get used to it.

    The Ollie

The first step in the ollie is to get your feet into the right position.() First put your front foot in the center of the board with your back foot on the tail. Begin to push off. When you first start to jump, a few things must happen. Bend your knees then slap your tail hard to the ground. Slide your front foot up towards the end of the board that extra space you front foot established is being used for the jump! As your foot is sliding, this should lift up your board. After getting into the air push forward so as to level out your skateboard. As you descend towards land bend your kness slightly to soften the landing. This is specifically important if you are land off of a large ledge, stairs, rail or a large gap.

    Backside 180 Ollie

For the 180 Ollie, put your body in the ollie position*() begin to push up and before you ollie, twist your upper body in the opposite direction of your 180 Ollie sort of winding up, and when you are sliding your foot, be sure to swivel your upper body in the opposite way that you wound up. Then bend your knees at the end,to soften the landing.

    Pop Shove-It

First put your feet into the pop shove-it position. Put your front foot in the center of the board your foot slightly angled toward the nose and your back foot hanging off the tail. Start to ollie up, but use your back foot to kick the board around watch the board revolve around the back foot catch the board with your front foot . Bend your knees slightly to soften the landing.

    The Kickflip/Heelflip

For the kickflip position put your feet in the position as for the pop shove-it except, put the balm of your foot on the tail. Start off just like an ollie but when you are sliding your foot up the skateboard slide it off the side so as to kick the board. the board should begin flipping. Afterwards, the tail of the board should begin to come up to your back foot. Catch the board with both feet. Bend your knees slightly as you land to soften the landing. For the heelflip do the same except use your heel to flip the board.

    The Boardslide

To do a boardslide , simply ollie up onto the obstacle and turn your board 90 degrees (A quarter turn) towards it. Be sure to get a lot of speed or use skate wax so that you will be able to slide the entire way, or until you are ready to get off.
